Subject: How the Lord’s Days Are to Be Kept From the Scriptures

Beloved,

The Lord did not leave His appointed times to guesswork. He distinguished the seventh-day Sabbath from the holy days of the feasts, and He told us how each is to be kept. If we mix them together, we lose the purpose of both.

1. The Seventh-Day Sabbath — A Stay-at-Home Stillness

The weekly Sabbath is not first a travel day or a public festival day. It is a holy appointment of stillness with the Spirit of God.

See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath… abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day.

Exodus 16:29 · KJV

Six days shall work be done: but the seventh day is the sabbath of rest, an holy convocation; ye shall do no work therein: it is the sabbath of the LORD in all your dwellings.

Leviticus 23:3 · KJV

On this day the holy convocation is with His Spirit, in your dwelling. It is a stay-at-home stillness. No ordinary work. No running to and fro. No mischief. Seek Him, find Him, and stay aligned with His righteous way: keep the seventh day as it is written, keep your hands from evil, do what pleases Him, and take hold of His covenant of life (Isaiah 56:1-4; 58:13-14).

The glory of the latter house is greater than the former, and His peace is unlocked as we are still on the seventh day (Haggai 2:4-5, 9). We are His temple. Alignment with His Word is how His glory shines through us.

2. The Sabbath Days of the Feasts — No Servile Work, So the Assembly Can Gather

The feast Sabbaths are different in purpose. On those days the Lord still forbids servile work, but the reason is so His people can show up to the holy convocations of the feast.

In the first day ye shall have an holy convocation: ye shall do no servile work therein.

Leviticus 23:7 · KJV (and likewise on the other feast Sabbaths: vv. 8, 21, 24-25, 35-36)

“No servile work” means the labor of your regular occupation is to stop. The day is not given to the grind. It is given so you can assemble, hear, rejoice, and honor the appointed time. These are gathering days. Clear the schedule so you can be present.

Note the exception: the Day of Atonement is stricter. On that day the command is, “Ye shall do no work at all,” and the soul is to be afflicted in remembrance of the blood (Leviticus 23:27-32). That Sabbath is rest and reflection in the finished atonement of Christ — not a feast of fullness.

3. The Feast Days — Celebrate, Eat, and Drink to Fullness

Apart from the Day of Atonement, the feasts are days of rejoicing and plenty. The Lord did not appoint them as days of emptiness.

And thou shalt rejoice in thy feast… because the LORD thy God shall bless thee in all thine increase, and in all the works of thine hands; therefore thou shalt surely rejoice.

Deuteronomy 16:14-15 · KJV

And eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.

Nehemiah 8:10 · KJV

Eat and drink with thanksgiving. Celebrate the Ingathering. Share with those who have little. Let the Feast of Tabernacles be a week of holy gladness — conscious that He seeks to be One with you (John 17:21-23), and that Oneness is made real when you align with His truth and practice it as it is written.

Give thanks for the grace that makes possible a loving relationship based on obedience, not a toxic relationship based on disobedience and rebellion (2 Corinthians 4:15; John 4:23-24).

Simple Rule for This Season

Seventh-day Sabbath: stay in your place; stillness; holy convocation with His Spirit; no work.

Feast Sabbaths: no servile work, so you can assemble.

Feast days: rejoice, eat, and drink to fullness before the Lord.

Day of Atonement: complete rest and sober remembrance of the blood of Christ.

Do not turn the weekly Sabbath into a feast-circuit day.

Do not turn the feast into a common workweek.

Keep each day as it is written.

The Lord is tabernacling among us. Remain in His way.
