Instruction 1
No other gods
If you cannot keep the first instruction of your god, then it is not your god.
Thou shalt have no other gods before me.
Exodus 20:3 · KJV
Then said the LORD unto Moses, Behold, I will rain bread from heaven for you; and the people shall go out and gather a certain rate every day, that I may prove them, whether they will walk in my law, or no.
Exodus 16:4 · KJV
And the LORD said unto Moses, How long refuse ye to keep my commandments and my laws? See, for that the LORD hath given you the sabbath, therefore he giveth you on the sixth day the bread of two days; abide ye every man in his place, let no man go out of his place on the seventh day. So the people rested on the seventh day.
Exodus 16:28-30 · KJV
The first instruction given to the people after redemption from Egypt and the Red Sea was not the mountain. It was this: stay in place, and be still in holy convocation with His Spirit on the seventh day. If we are not keeping that word, we are walking contrary to Him.
Because if you cannot keep the first instruction of your god, then it is not your god. If you cannot align with God’s first instruction and test of faith, then you are aligned to another god and another faith — whether you know it or not.
This instruction was given ever before the commandments were spoken in Exodus 20. We are supposed to remember it, in order to keep the Sabbath day holy. Other gods are not only carved images. They are whatever we trust, fear, or obey above that first word — including a week we enter without having been still.
Walk it out
- Do not miss the holy convocation with the Spirit of Creation. Rest unto the Lord by staying in place. Light no fires — body, mind, or spirit (Exodus 35:3).
- Commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still (Psalm 4:4).
- Do not jump into the week without accomplishing this stillness on the seventh day. That is a sin, and it will leave you short of the glory of God for the whole week.
